RAYMOND H. AVER, ESQUIRE

Mr. Aver is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1980, with honors.  He received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1983 from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he served on the editorial staff of the Communications and Entertainment Law Journal, and was awarded a writing scholarship.  Mr. Aver also completed a clerkship with the Honorable John T. Racanelli, Judge of the California Court of Appeal, Division One.

 

Mr. Aver was previously a senior counsel with Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger, where he focused his practice in the areas of bankruptcy law, creditors’ rights, and general and commercial litigation in the state and federal courts.  Mr. Aver specializes in debtor/creditor representations.  He has extensive experience in loan documentation, restructurings and workouts, and representation of businesses in chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Aver is a frequent lecturer to attorneys and business people on various bankruptcy and creditors’ rights related topics.  He has been a panelist for Bankers’ Legal Access, CEB, Lorman Educational Services, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, cdcbaa (Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys’ Association), San Fernando Valley Bar Association, National Business Institute, Sterling Educational Services, UCLA Extension, and Western Association of Equipment Lessors.  He has also served as a settlement officer in the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Landlord-Tenant Settlement Program, and as a consultant to the Constitutional Rights Foundation Mock Trial Program.

 

Mr. Aver is admitted to the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in California, as well as in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

 

Mr. Aver is a mediator appointed by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.  He is the past-President of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Los Angeles Alumni Association.  Mr. Aver is an active member of and speaker for the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney’s Association.  Mr. Aver was an active member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, having served for five years on the Executive Committee of the Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights Section.  He was also a long-standing member of the Financial Lawyers Conference, the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, having previously served as chair of various committees of the Barristers Section.
